In December 2019, Governor Whitmer established the Poverty Task Force to bring together various stakeholders to develop an anti-poverty plan for Michigan. Since that time, COVID-19 has gripped the state and nation and laid bare how poverty impacts life in both “typical” and “atypical” times.

The 2021 Poverty Task Force Report from The Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity (LEO) outlines more than 30 policy recommendations to strengthen anti-poverty initiatives and bring greater opportunity to more Michiganders now and in the future. CEDAM is encouraged that several recommendations strongly align with the work of our members' and our policy priorities.

On April 28 at 10am EST, join CEDAM, LEO, and members of the Poverty Task Force Advisory Committee for a conversation where we will discuss report recommendations and how you and your organization can play a part in helping low-income Michiganders navigate and transcend poverty.
