“That building would be a great ___________”

“What a beautiful historical building. I wish we could do something with it.”

“What we really need in this town is a ____________________.”

Real estate development is a powerful tool for community-based economic development, leveraging organizations to transform communities and create a sense of place. Whether you are new to the industry or could use a refresher in current trends and standards, learning the fundamentals of this complex industry can play a major role in the success of a project.

Travel together as an organization or join independently for a collaborative and practical experience. Learn broad-based and Michigan-specific development fundamentals from local professionals. You will collaborate with your peers in groups to prepare a project. A formal presentation to a funding panel, including representatives from various lending institutions and other nontraditional funders, will conclude the experience, allowing for constructive feedback and pointers for how best and feasibly prepare a project.

This Real Estate Development Boot Camp has been restructured to better accommodate participants. Several of the introductory topics will be offered independently and is a prerequisite to Boot Camp attendance. If you did not participate in the Plan // Design // Manage: Professional Development Day Real Estate Development Track in February, you will be sent the online modules in to familiarize yourself with the fundamentals. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa (Benck) Assenmacher, Communications & Training Specialist at lisa@cedam.info  or 517.485.3588.

This training is intended for a beginner or intermediate level of understanding of the real estate development process. The cost for attendance includes training, lodging (hotel-style room with double occupancy) and meals. You must attend the entire training, including the overnight stays. Single rooms are available at an extra charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note, there are NO refunds available for this boot camp.
