There are a host of programs and resources available in Michigan that your clients may be eligible for. It can be a challenge to familiarize yourself with everything that is available and know the correct process to best help your clients accesses them. This webinar will bring three organizations together to describe and clarify programs available to vulnerable populations in Michigan and help you connect your clients with resources and assistance that will help them improve their situations.

Michigan Benefits Access exists to increase economic stability for Michigan families by connecting them to multiple public benefits through the MI Bridges website and Community partners.

Tara Truax, SOAR, MDHHS
SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) is a program designed to increase access to SSI/SSDI for eligible adults who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness, medical impairment, and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder. The SOAR Across Michigan Initiative is a statewide initiative which assists people who are homeless and living with a disability to access SSI and/or SSDI, thereby allowing those who formerly had no means to obtain and maintain housing, an opportunity to do so. SOAR is an initiative with curriculum to train staff working in the community to assist disabled adults experiencing homelessness to apply for SSI/SSDI benefits. The Michigan SOAR initiative is supported by The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

Connect & Share is a monthly program available for free for CEDAM members to network, learn about relevant topics and discuss challenges without obligation. Topics and days of the week will vary each month and members can simply register for the topics of interest. A recording will be available in our Resource Library on demand.
